A home of her own?
This photo was taken last summer when Miriam Garcia, a cook for Our Little Roses,  proudly showed us construction progress on the new home that would mark the end of her days as a renter.  This structure is just a few hundred feet from the fetid river that flows through the "bordo", the neighborhood surrounding OLR.

Post-Felix, Miriam is ok, but we do not yet know the fate of her house.

Emergency relief funds will help repair damage to Our Little Roses home and school and will also assist staff to rebuild their own homes and lives.

Bishop Frade received the message below from his wife Diana, who has been at Our Little Roses in San Pedro Sula, Honduras, during Hurricane Felix. She reports that although the OLR compound came through the storm with no significant damage or flooding, some of the home's employees were not so fortunate.

Dear Leo,

Please let our friends and supporters know that we are in a crisis situation with many of our employees who live in the housing project of Ocotillo. Their homes were flooded during the night due to the torrential rains that fell in San Pedro Sula and that have continued today.

These faithful persons are in desperate need of cleaning supplies, mattresses, sheets, water and other emergency supplies. We calculate that each family will need $300 to alleviate the stress that this flooding has placed on them. These are the persons in immediate need of help: Juana, Ela, Lucy, Suyapa, Victor, Hector and Juan. That is $2100 that we need to be able to help them.

Thank you for helping us with this situation,

Diana
