Day 4, Monday July 3, 2006

Here’s where we saw God today:

Dr. Tony welcomed us at the Holy Family Clinic, where the people of the barrio receive services on a sliding scale, based on their ability to pay.  We were grateful to deliver $40,000 worth of medicine and supplies, thanks to our partnership with Crosslinks International and the enthusiastic leadership of Deb Schrag.

Communications went awry and we would up doing our Pharaoh dance for high school girls rather than the little ones.  We saw God in their tolerance!

The whole sad situation was redeemed when little Nicolle saw Grayce on the playground and immediately struck a Pharaoh pose.

Larry saw God in Kobb’s ice cream, and so did several others.

For all who contributed arts and craft supplies, Muchas Gracias!!  The girls have made beautiful fabric-painted T shirts and memory books.  We’ve posted a couple of examples of their work in Day 3 and Day 4.

Marta’s godmothers will be glad to know that Barbara Bassuener has officially declared her to be a “hot dog.”  This lively girl keeps things pretty well stirred up during crafts class, but we turned around at the end of the class and she had the room cleaned.

One of the most troubled girls was having an unusually difficult evening, when Chet stepped in to comfort her as only he can.  Within two minutes, her tears were turning to smiles.
