(3 years - rising 5th graders. Older youth are invited to be "teen" helpers)
We are pleased to once again be offering Vacation Bible School to the children of our community. For nearly a decade the VBS program has been happily co-sponsored by Peace Lutheran Church and St. Alban's Episcopal Church. Our Vacation Bible School this year is based on C.S. Lewis' wonderful children's book, The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.
The story relates how children living in England suddenly found themselves in an entirely different world—Narnia—by walking into an old wardrobe closet. When they emerged through the back of the wardrobe they were greeted by talking animals and trees, and by evil that had to be overcome with a lion’s love.
Through this program we hope our children will first enjoy the wonder and innocence of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe; and, secondly, see and live the rich, deep Christian message of trust, hope and faith in Christ that is so beautifully woven into the story.
Your child does not need to be familiar with any of the stories to enjoy a morning of play, fellowship and exploration of Christian themes and virtues. And while the Narnia stories themselves might contain some intense or even scary scenes, none of those will be incorporated into our Vacation Bible School program.
